POSITION SUMMARY:
Magellan Jets, an innovative leader in the aviation industry, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. This role is pivotal in developing and enhancing our digital infrastructure to ensure the highest level of service and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java, Spring Boot, relational databases, microservices architecture, and API development, with a proven track record of delivering robust, scalable, and efficient software solutions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Design, develop, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code.
· Implement high-performance applications using the Spring Boot framework.
· Develop and maintain microservices that support our business processes and operations.
· Design and implement databases, ensuring data integrity, performance, and scalability.
· Develop APIs for internal and external use, ensuring they are secure, efficient, and maintainable.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
· Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to company standards and best practices.
· Assist in the integration of third-party services and systems as required.
· Troubleshoot and debug to optimize performance.
· Keep abreast of emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations.
COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge:
· Strong experience with Spring Boot and a deep understanding of microservices architecture.
· Proficient in working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and developing database-driven applications.
· Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs.
· Solid understanding of the full software development life cycle.
· Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Skills:
· Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Abilities:
· Capable of designing, developing, and maintaining efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (if applicable):
This position doesn’t have any supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Location: Remote of office-based, depending on location
· Conditions: General office environment with moderate noise levels. If remote, must have a dedicated, private workspace
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Extended periods sitting at a desk or workstation.
· Occasional walking/ movement between work areas (e.g., meetings, restrooms, or kitchen).
· Repetitive Hand and Wrist Movements via frequent typing and use of a mouse.
· Light lifting of office supplies, documents, or equipment (up to 20 lbs).
· Screen Use: Prolonged use of a computer screen.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a Full-Time, Exempt position.
TRAVEL:
Travel to the Quincy, MA headquarters will be required for remote postions twice a year. Additonal travel may be required for pivate client visits and prospecting.

The total target compensation for this role will be between $130,000 and $150,000 per year at the commencement of employment.Please note, pay will be determined on an individualized basis and will be impacted by location, experience, expertise, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. Further, cash compensation is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may include other Magellan Jets-sponsored benefits.
